APSAR

(The All Private School Association for Reorientation, which is referred to locally as ‘cluster schools’.)

The Association was established to promote educational methods and to improve the teaching environment in  member schools. They aim to achieve improvements in individual schools by working cooperatively.

Member schools have adopted common textbooks and a common curriculum and examination system. They are particularly keen on the training of teachers and use,  where practicable, a peer learning system where teachers from one school will go to other schools in the cluster to pass on particular skills. Solas has supported  an 8 day workshop on teaching methodology and the training of 3 female teachers in Early Childhood Development Education who will work with the 10 schools in the cluster. Teachers from the cluster also participated in the two week English course run by a Solas volunteer in July 2010.
