One of the first schools-assisted by Solas, the school has now developed to Degree College level. During the Solas Secretary’s visit to the school a presentation was given to teachers by the principal on the health education work of the school. This covered knowledge and skills, the holistic approach to education, the need to change mindsets, and integration of health education into the school.
The school has a great need for more toilets and washrooms as there are only two washrooms for 500 students. Solas funds have been used for the construction of an examination hall and while Solas support was not sufficient to cover the entire construction cost, it did enable them to access other sources of funding. The hall will be used by the community and other schools, both as an examination hall and a place to hold meetings and social events. The hall would be rented out and this would generate income for the school.
